Charlie Harper was an American artist and illustrator who passed away in 2007.
Over his prolific career, the man created a style he described as ‘minimal realism’, abstracting nature to beautiful but basic shapes and form.
Not only did the man have incredible style and imagination, he had a penchant for certain avain species…
Apparently his son is still running off the unlimited editions of his prints which you can buy here on his website in the US, and at Elphicks on Commercial Road in London. There are also some of his limited editions on the American site, with signed serigraphs at some fairly reasonable prices.
Stunning.
I love how this one has been set on it’s ‘side’ so you get the feeling of the owl swoop and capture out of the night!

Thanks for this post!
Absolutely love Harper birds! And owls too.
He has one more owl carring a mouse with full moon and trees and a moving car on the backgroung.
I’ve made charts and stitched two Charley Harper prints – grosebeaks and a b/w duck.
